FAQs
FAQs
APPOINTMENT:
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, we do accept walk-in clients. However, we highly recommend booking an appointment in advance to minimise waiting time and ensure availability.
How far in advance should I book my appointment?
We recommend scheduling your appointment ahead of time, particularly during peak periods, to secure your preferred date and time.
Do you offer group bookings or bridal packages?
Yes, we offer group bookings for special occasions, including bridal parties. Please contact us directly to discuss your requirements and arrange a tailored experience.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may impact future bookings.
Why was my appointment cancelled when I was only a few minutes late?
To ensure all clients receive their full service on time, we adhere to a strict schedule. If you arrive late, your appointment may be considered a “no-show” and automatically cancelled to avoid delays for other clients. If you anticipate being late, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate or reschedule your appointment where possible.
2. GEL:
What is Gel?
Gel is a type of nail enhancement that is cured under UV or LED light. It is available in several forms, including:
Gel Polish/Shellac: Provides long-lasting colour and shine but does not add strength to the natural nail.
Builder Gel/Gel-X: Designed to strengthen the natural nail and can also be used to create length and extensions.
The best option depends on your desired look, lifestyle, and level of durability.
Do you offer builder gel services?
Yes, builder gel services are available at Lumi Nails Highpoint. We offer applications for both natural nails and extensions, as well as builder gel refill services to maintain your nails.
Is builder gel better for your nails?
Builder gel, acrylic, SNS, and other nail enhancements are cosmetic services rather than treatments, meaning they do not improve the natural health of your nails.
However, when applied and removed correctly by a qualified nail technician, these products should not cause damage. The most suitable option will depend on your personal preference, nail condition, and daily activities.
Why Does Gel Feel Hot Under UV Light?
During the curing process under UV or LED light, gel may produce a temporary warming sensation. The intensity can vary depending on the condition of your natural nails and the thickness of the gel applied. If you experience discomfort, please inform your technician. Alternative options such as acrylic or SNS may be recommended, as they do not produce the same heat sensation.
3. SERVICES:
I don’t want my nails to be filed or drilled. Is that possible?
Filing the natural nail is an important step in the preparation process—it removes oils and shine to help the product adhere properly and last longer. If you prefer not to have your nails filed, we will respect your request. However, please note that without proper prep, we cannot guarantee the longevity of the application.
Do you use safe and hygienic practices?
Yes, we maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards at all times. Disposable tools are used wherever possible, and all reusable equipment is thoroughly sterilised between each client.
Do you only fix one broken nail?
Yes, we are happy to repair a single broken nail if the original service was completed at our salon. For work done at other salons, we are unable to offer individual repair services.
Is Acrylic Nails Better or SNS Nails Better?
Both acrylic and SNS (Signature Nail Systems) nails offer distinct advantages. The most suitable option depends on your personal style, preferred nail length, daily activities, and lifestyle. We recommend consulting with one of our experienced nail technicians, who can provide personalised advice to help you choose the option that best meets your needs.
4. WARRANTY:
Do you offer a warranty for your nail services?
Yes, we provide a 7-day warranty on our nail services from the date of your appointment. If you experience any issues within this period, we will gladly assess and address the concern. Please note that this warranty does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, external impact, or improper aftercare.
Why did my Shellac chip off so quickly?
Shellac is primarily a colour coating and does not add strength to the natural nail. As a result, its longevity can be affected by daily wear and tear. Clients with naturally thin or brittle nails may also find that Shellac does not last as long. For added durability, alternative options such as builder gel or other strengthening systems may be recommended.
Why is my SNS chipping and cracking?
There are several factors that may contribute to SNS chipping or cracking:
Application thickness: A thinner application, often chosen for a more natural look, may be more prone to chipping.
Natural nail condition: Thin or brittle nails can affect the durability of SNS.
Lifestyle factors: Frequent use of hands for manual or high-impact activities may reduce the longevity of the product.
If durability is a concern, our technicians can recommend stronger alternatives, such as acrylic or builder gel, tailored to your needs.
5. OTHERS:
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, we offer both digital and physical gift vouchers for your convenience. Our eGift cards are available for purchase online 24/7 and are delivered instantly via email, with a selection of beautifully designed templates to choose from. Physical Gift cards are also available for purchase in-store and come presented in elegant packaging.
What should I do if I have a specific nail condition or allergy?
Please inform us of any nail conditions, sensitivities, or allergies prior to your appointment. This allows our team to recommend suitable products and tailor the service to ensure your safety and comfort.
Are children allowed in the salon?
While children are welcome, we kindly recommend arranging childcare during your appointment. This helps ensure a relaxing and uninterrupted experience for both you and other clients.
Can you do nails without filing or drilling my natural nails?
Most nail services require proper preparation, including light filing or gentle drilling, to remove the natural shine and ensure long-lasting results. If you prefer not to have this step performed, we are happy to accommodate your request. However, please note that in such cases, we are unable to provide a warranty on the service.
Why are my nails thin and brittle after getting them done?
Nail enhancement services such as SNS, acrylic, or Shellac can sometimes leave the natural nails feeling thinner or more fragile, particularly if the removal process is not done correctly or if nails are frequently reapplied without breaks. At our salon, we prioritise proper application and safe removal techniques to minimise damage and maintain nail health. Our technicians are also happy to provide aftercare advice to help strengthen and protect your natural nails.
